A Multi-Community Read of “Thirty Million Words” by Dana Suskind
Designed to engage the community in open dialogue on what it takes to ‘build a child’s brain’, this collaborative community initiative, developed by the Children’s Reading Connection, is launching in Broome County on April 26th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at WSKG. This event is open to the public.
WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT A BABY’S BRAIN: Both the quantity and quality of words spoken to babies and children impact neural development. A language-rich environment influences social, emotional and intellectual domains.
OUR HOPE: Reading the book Thirty Million Words, will inspire and empower families, organizations, schools, libraries, and institutions – the community – with new knowledge and understanding about the importance of early, frequent, and pleasurable language experiences for all children.
