- Convocation Day Is Tuesday, April 18, 2023
- No classes are scheduled for day or evening per the shared governance and administration-approved academic calendar
- Our keynote speaker is Lisa Feldman Barrett, Distinguished Professor Psychology and Neuroscience at Northeastern University
- Barrett is highly regarded for her insights about the neurological basis of emotions
- Barrett is passionate about explaining new and critical research in human psychology
- Barrett will offer a keynote address at 10:00 am, live in the Baldwin Gym and on Zoom
- Barrrett will offer a Q and A session beginning at 11:00 am, live in Baldwin Gym and on Zoom
- Faculty from different academic divisions on campus will offer afternoon workshops (12:15 pm – 1:15 pm) and a documentary film screening (beginning at 1:30 pm), live on campus, related to important issues that connect to the themes of Convocation 2023
- Teaching Faculty who wish to be recognized and certified as 2023 Convocation Faculty Scholars should register their plans to engage students in Convocation Day at convocation/convocation-teaching-faculty-scholar-registration/ by Friday March 24 by Noon.
- SUNY Broome students may be required by Teaching Faculty to attend Convocation Day activities and they may also be eligible to earn extra-credit for doing so. Students should check with their professors about this possibility
- SUNY Broome students will benefit from attending Convocation Day activities as a form of para-professional development
- Barrett’s keynote address will benefit students in all fields who can note their attendance at this talk in job interviews, resumes as well as scholarship and transfer applications
- Convocation Day is the largest annual gathering of students and faculty that takes place on SUNY Broome’s campus. Don’t miss it!
