A microcredential is a short term credential that recognizes certain competencies or skills. These credentials can be noncredit or credit bearing, and are based on skills needed for today’s workforce.
Microcredentials are earned in less time than a degree. At SUNY Broome, microcredentials range from 6 to 13 credits. Some can be earned in just a few weeks! You can earn a microcredential at any stage in your career, as part of your degree program or stand-alone. You receive a digital badge (via Credly), which is a digitized, visual record of your achievements. You can use it in your email signature or social media.
Please e-mail microcred@sunybroome.edu with any questions regarding Microcredentials at SUNY Broome.

If you’re a U.S. veteran, you may qualify for grant funding to cover the cost of a microcredential. Visit the Grant-Funded Microcredentials for Veterans page for more information.
