Personal Training Microcredential
Students will learn concepts and structures of basic anatomy, physiology, human movement, biomechanics, nutrition, metabolism, and kinesiology principles. They will learn how to recognize the relationship between physical activity and risk for disease, including the importance of lifestyle choices, exercise psychology, and behavior, and how these relate to overall health. Students will learn how to conduct fitness assessments, develop fitness and wellness programs, and use a variety of exercise formats to help others learn proper exercise techniques. By the end of the microcredential, students will be prepared to sit for the personal training certification exam.

Requirements
Needed to earn this Microcredential
If you’re enrolled in the SUNY Broome Sport Studies program, the following courses are required:
- Earn a grade of C or higher in PED 119: Solutions in Fitness and Wellness, 1.5 credits
- Earn a grade of C or higher in PED 120: Foundation of Exercise, 3 credits
- Earn a D or higher in BIO 131: Anatomy & Physiology I, 4 credits OR BIO 102: Foundations of Biology for Anatomy and Physiology, 4 credits
- Earn a grade of C or higher in PED 210: Exercise Assistant Internship, 1.5 credits
- Students must hold a current CPR/AED certification to earn the microcredential -- show proof of current certification or take HST 114: CPR First Aid and Infectious Disease.
If you’re earning this microcredential as a stand-alone, the following courses are required:
- Earn a grade of C or higher in PED 119: Solutions in Fitness and Wellness, 1.5 credits
- Earn a grade of C or higher in PED 120: Foundation of Exercise, 3 credits
- Earn a D or higher in BIO 101: Intro to Anatomy and Physiology, 3 credits OR BIO 102: Foundations of Biology for Anatomy and Physiology, 4 credits
- Earn a grade of C or higher in PED 171: Principles of Training and Conditioning, 1 credit OR PED 175: Weight Training, .5 credit
- Students must hold a current CPR/AED certification to earn the microcredential -- show proof of current certification or take HST 114: CPR First Aid and Infectious Disease.
