8:30-9:15 Breakfast and Opening Remarks
9:15-11:15 Communicating and Relating More Effectively Across Poverty Barriers (Keynote): Participants gain insights into differences in communicating and relating more effectively across social class barriers. This session explores the impact of life experiences on communication styles and provides a framework for improving an organization’s communication and relationships with people who live in the war zone of poverty.
11:30-12:15: Lunch
12:30-2:00 Workshop: Teaching and Learning Tools that Work for People Who Live in the Crisis of Poverty: Dr. Beegle will provide insights into what faculty, staff, and leaders can do to improve educational outcomes for all students. She assists participants with effective teaching and learning strategies that help make the learning more purposeful and meaningful to students facing poverty. During this session, Dr. Beegle will support faculty and staff in building a foundation for the systemic changes needed to ensure that students from poverty succeed.
